Cleaning Thermal Head on Epson Receipt Printer

This article refers to the Epson TM88V thermal receipt printers. This will be the same for both the stand-alone network receipt printer, and the built in all in one printer.

 

A dirty Thermal Head on a receipt printer may cause multiple issues such as "light printing", no printing, or even cause the printer to feed paper when there is no print job being sent to the printer. While we do not have an exhaustive list of symptoms, this may be a troubleshooting step to try when pinning down what could be causing the printer issue. Below is documentation from Epson on how to properly clean the Thermal Head.
