Boot DT315CT from a USB Drive

Objectives

  1. Boot a DT Research DT315CT from a USB drive.

Prerequisites

  1. DT Research DT315CT tablet.
  2. Docking station with AC adapter.
  3. USB keyboard.

Instructions

  1. Plug the AC adapter into port on the back of the docking station.
  2. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet.
  3. Plug the USB drive into one of the USB ports on the back of the docking station.
  4. Place the tablet on the docking station.
  5. Plug USB keyboard into the USB port on the left side of the tablet.
  6. Press and release the power button on the right side of the tablet.
  7. As soon as you release the power button, begin pressing F12 about once per second.
    1. The tablet should display a screen that says Boot Manager at the top.
    2. If the tablet continues booting up normally instead of displaying the Boot Manager screen, wait for it to finish booting up, shut it down, and try again.
  8. On the Boot Manager screen, use the arrow keys to select the device you want to boot from and press Enter.
    1. USB drives will be named according to the manufacturer and model of the USB drive.

NOTE: If the USB drive is not booting into the installer, make sure the BIOS option "UEFI Boot" is set to "Disabled." To access the BIOS menu, repeatedly press F2 as soon as turning on the tablet. When the menu appears, press the right-arrow key and highlight the "Boot" tab. The "UEFI Boot" option will be the first entry.
