Set Wireless Static IP and Network Settings on Tablets Using RADIUS Network Settings

Objectives

Set wireless network settings on tablets that use RADIUS Authentication.

Prerequisites

  • Tablet
  • USB Keyboard
  • Network information
    • Static IP for Wireless connecntion
    • Static IP for Wired Connection
    • DNS Server(s) address(es)
    • Default Gateway
    • Authentication Mode (will typically be WPA-EAP)
      • *NOTE - If EAP, will need to know if EAP Mode is PEAP, TTLS or TLS
    • Username & Password of Domain Credentials

Instructions

  1. Switch from Application to Shell
  2. Log in as “root”
  3. In the command line, type “yast lan” and hit Enter
  4. Tab to highlight the “Intel WLAN controller” network card
  5. Press Alt+i (or F4) to edit the network card
  6. Tab to highlight “Statically assigned IP Address” and hit space
  7. Enter IP address and Subnet in appropriate fields
  8. Press Alt+n
  9. Tab to highlight the "Network Name (ESSID)" field and enter the SSID
  10. Tab to highlight the “Authentication Mode” field
  11. Press the down arrow to highlight "WPA-EAP (WPA version 1 or 2)" and hit Enter
  12. Press Alt+n
  13. Use the arrow keys to select the appropriate option in the "EAP Mode" field (PEAP, TLS, or TTLS)
  14. Enter the domain credentials in the "Identity" and "Password" fields.
  15. Enter appropriate information in any other necessary fields (I.E. Server Certificate).
  16. Press Alt+n
  17. Press Alt+u to get to the Routing page
  18. Tab to hightlight the “Routing Table” box
  19. Press Alt+d
  20. Enter the 0.0.0.0 in both the Desination & Genmask fields
    1. *NOTE – You must clear the field of all characters. There is no overtype.
  21. Enter the Default gateway in the Gateway field.

  22. Under the Device Field, use the arrow keys to select “eth0” and hit Enter
  23. Press Alt+o
  24. Repeat steps 17-19 entering the wireless information.
  25. Under the Device Field, use the arrow keys to select “wlan0” and hit Enter
  26. Press Alt+o
  27. Press Alt+s
  28. Enter the DNS server information in the appropriate fields.
  29. Press Alt+o to commit and save the changes.
