Objectives
Set a static IP address for wired network interface on a tablet
Prerequisites
DT Research Tablet that is already set up and just needs a static IP for the wired network interface (i.e for when it is on the docking station) The tablet needs to be in the docking station and docking station needs to be wired to the network
Instructions
Here are instructions for setting a static IP address for the wired network interface on a tablet:
1. Use yast to set a static IP address like you would on a terminal, except do not set a default gateway.
This is important; wireless will not work if you set a default gateway.
2. Press Alt + u to go to the Routing tab.
3. Press Alt + d to add a static route:
Destination: 0.0.0.0
Genmask: 0.0.0.0
Gateway: IP address of the default gateway
Device: eth0
Options: (leave this blank)
4. Press Alt + o to close the static route dialog.
5. Press F10 to save changes.
