Set Static IP Address on Wired Devices for OS Image 7.2.X

Objectives

Set a static IP on a device that has a wired (Ethernet) interface.

Prerequisites

1. Wired device
2. Keyboard
3. Monitor/display

Instructions

1. Plug in keyboard and if necessary, display into the device.
2. Press "Ctrl+Alt+F1" which will show a login prompt.
3. Enter "networkconfig" for both username and password. The password field will not show any characters when entering.
4. On the Overview tab with the eth0 interface highlighted, press "Alt+i".
5. Press the "Tab" key until "Statically Assigned IP Address" is highlighted.
6. Press the "Space bar" to select static IP.
7. Press "Tab" to enter the "IP Address" text box. Enter the static IP here, press "Tab" again and enter the subnet mask in the "Subnet Mask" text box.
8. Press "Alt+n" to return to the Overview tab.
9. Press "Alt+s" to move to the Hostname/DNS tab.
10. Press "Tab" until the "Name Server 1" text box is highlighted. Enter the primary DNS server address here. Press "Tab" once again and enter the secondary DNS server. Tab again for a tertiary DNS server.
11. Press "Alt+u" to move to the Routing tab.
12. Press "Alt+d" to add an entry to the routing table.
13. "Tab" until the Gateway field is highlighted. Enter the default gateway address here.
14. Press "Tab" to highlight the "Device" text box.
15. Press the "down arrow key" and select "eth0" and press the "Enter" key.
16. Press "Alt+O" to save your entry to the routing table.
17. Press "Alt+O" one more time to save and exit yast.
18. Press "Ctrl+Alt+F7" to return to the GUI and attempt to load the application by pressing the browser's "Try Again" button.
