Service Charges

Service Charges

Service Charges

Objectives

Set up service charges for a community.

Prerequisites

Access to back office application with project manager settings

Instructions

Overview

Service charges allow a community to designate an automatic charge on checks, based on a certain percentage of the check’s total. The most common example of this would be an automatic percentage tip on a check, typically in salon or catering department. These service charges can be automatic, or they can be prompted for when the user goes to close the check.

Set-Up

All steps below take place in the back office.

  1. Create an item to be generated as the service charge on the Item Management tab. Be mindful of item type and tax rules when setting up this item. The price on the item can be set to zero for all customer types.
  2. Create a service charge on the Service Charges tab, located under the Setup button. Specify a name for the service charge, the automatic percentage to be generated, and the item you created previously.
    1. Service Charge Applicable Table - Configure Customer Type - Item Type combinations that the service charge is applicable for.
  3. Associate the service charge with the appropriate modes on the Modes tab. These are located under the Mode Service Charges sub table. For each service charge, specify if the service charge should be prompted or created automatically. You may also specify a message for the dialog that will appear with the user is prompted.
  4. For each service charge in the Mode Service Charges sub table, specify the dining location where the service charge should be applied. If the service charge should be applied in all three locations (Dine In, Dine Out 1, and Dine Out 2), set the dining location to "All".
