Update Epson E04 Network Adapter Firmware
Objectives
Update firmware for the Epson E04 network adapter.
Prerequisites
Instructions
1. Download and unzip the UBEFlash program obtained from Epson's download page
(Version 1.28 as of 05/2023).
2. Run the UB-E04_Network_Firmware_Updater_VerXXXXX.exe included in the zip archive as an administrator.
3. Accept the terms, read the warnings, and proceed through the dialgs by pressing "Next." You may need to grant the program access through the Windows firewall.
4. The program will appear and look something like this:
5. Available network printers should appear on the UB-E04(Wired) section. Press F5 to refresh if none appear. You may also have to change the adapter if no printers appear. Click Option>Adapter Selection and choose the adapter with an IP address listed. If you are updating a new printer, you should choose Ethernet. Choose Wi-Fi if this is updating an existing printer over the network and you are using the wireless adapter. All other adapters should show "0.0.0.0" for their IPs.
6. Mark the checkbox for each printer being updated. Press the Green Play button to start the update process.
7. A dialog will appear, choose Yes to start updating. Do not unplug anything or stop the program until it is finished.
8. After a few seconds, the window will look like the one in Fig.6 below. The percentage column will change, and status will read “Firmware Data Sending."
9. The printer will print the following sheet (Fig.7).
10. When the update is finished, the printer will print out the sheet shown in Fig.8. Confirm the “Soft Version” on the print out (highlighted in red below). It should read whatever vresion you are trying to update with. If you’ve selected multiple printers in step “6” above, the next selected printer will start updating automatically.
11. Once all the selected printers finish updating, the utility on the PC with prompt the user with a dialog stating that the updates were successful. The update is completed.
