Emulation Mode Setup

Emulation Mode Setup

Emulation Mode Setup

The "Emulation Mode" setup is very simple. Communities use emulation mode as a way of using non-FullCount devices such as desktop computers to ring in real transactions without sacrificing some of FullCount other features such as having a cash drawer, printing customer receipts, and using our Axia integration for credit card payments. For the initial setup of emulation mode, see the TERMINAL SETUP section. If the setup requires a cash drawer balance, see the CASH DRAWER section. If your setup requires printing, reference the section, PRINTING/PRINT SERVER SETUP. If the setup requires an Axia credit card terminal, reference the section, CREDIT CARD SETUP.

Note: Customers must have a license to run emulation mode via a signed quote from our Sales team.

TERMINAL SETUP

1. The desktop computer must be setup just like any other POS terminal or tablet. Go to Setup --> Terminals --> New Terminal. At the New Terminal screen, the serial number is going to be a description of the terminal that the community will use as a part of their emulation mode's URL. There is no strict convention we use so come up an intuitive name that makes sense.

Example: Summit Vista Life uses an emulation mode for their Concierge desktop computer. That desktop's serial number is "svlconcierge".

2. Construct a unique URL using the serial number of the terminal you just created in the Back Office. This URL must be used if the community wishes to use the emulation mode. The foundation of every emulation's URL will be "https://portal.fullcount.net/POSWebApplication/app/login.html?serial=". To finish constructing the URL, add the serial number of the new terminal at the end of this foundation.

Example: Summit Vista Life URL for their concierge: https://portal.fullcount.net/POSWebApplication/app/login.html?serial=svlconcierge

For Retail POS, the URL is slightly altered to read the Retail URL, plus "?serialNumber=", altered from "?serial=".

* Retail POS does NOT auto-login to the application, like our standard/legacy application emulation does.

Example: Summit Vista Life URL for the concierge department, using Retail POS: https://pos.fullcount.net?serialNumber=svconcierge

3. Set up the terminal with any appropriate features such as a cash drawer, network printer for receipt printing, or credit card terminal. These setups go in greater detail below.

4. Send the URL you constructed to the customer. Make sure they keep this link bookmarked. Ensure that the specific URL you're sending them must be used when using FullCount on their device.

CASH DRAWER

In order to maintain a cash drawer balance on non-FullCount machines, the URL must be specific to a respective "terminal" on the Setup > Terminals page. Consider what department the device logs into and make sure the Cash Drawer enabled in the Modes that department uses. The rest of the cash drawer maintenance will be the same as any other terminal.

PRINTING FROM DEVICE

To ensure printing capabilities, confirm the below deliverables.

1. Enable external printing at the Mode settings via: Modes > Requisition Settings > "Print Jobs From Non-FullCount Devices" = "Yes".

2. Confirm status of printer server. If the community already has a print server installed, do a test print to confirm it is working. If the community ordered a new print server, confirm the print server is connected and online. For correct set up of a print server, see article here.

CREDIT CARD SETUP

1. Make sure the community is setup with proper Axia credentials under the Community button.

2. Enable other forms of payment under the Departments tab under the details of the appropriate department. Allow credit cards as a form of payment under the Mode settings.

3. Under the Setup Button and the Terminals tab, find the new terminal you added and configure that terminal with the serial number of the Axia device to ensure that they are linked together.
