Imaging a EVO-PC4-D2UN

Prerequisites:

  • POS-X EVO-PC4-D2UN (GZ serial number, NOT KQ or R)
  • USB Keyboard
  • KDS image USB drive
  • Monitor w/ VGA cable
  • Network Connection

 

Directions:

1. Register the S/N to the database and set up in the Back office accordingly. If this is not done, it will not grab the config file correctly.

2. Unpack the CPU, connect power and connect to the network.

3. Insert the KDS image USB drive and USB keyboard into the USB ports on the back of the CPU. Connect the VGA cable to the monitor and the CPU.

4. Power on the CPU and begin to press the F7 key about 1 time per second. This will bring up the boot options page.

5. Select the USB drive with KDS Image on it, by using the arrow keys on the keyboard, and press enter. This will start the installer.

6. At the end of the installer process, the CPU will reboot itself. Once the CPU is off, remove the USB drive. If not, the POS-X machine will default to boot from the last device booted.

7. Once the finishes booting, press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to access the shell, and login.

8. First, set the correct time zone for the community where this KDS CPU will be. Follow the directions below:

  • Type #yast timezone and press Enter.
  • Select the appropriate time zone from the list.
  • Tab to OK, and press Enter.

9. Next, you must configure the Serial Number file.

  • Use vi to edit the serial number file.
    • #vi /etc/sysconfig/fullcount_serial_number
  • Press i to be able to edit the file.
  • Type in the correct serial number from the Serial Number on the Tag of computer.
  • Press the Esc key to quit insert mode.
  • Exit and save your work.
    • #:wq

10. Finally, the product model file is incorrect and needs to be updated.

  • Use vi to edit the product model file:
    • #vi /etc/sysconfig/fullcount_product_model
  • Press i to be able to edit the file.
  • Clear out the contents of the file using the backspace key. The file incorrectly reads "CedarTrail Platform" and needs to be changed to "EVO-PC4-D2UN" Do not enter the Quotation Marks
  • Press the Esc key to quit insert mode.
  • Exit and save your work.
    • #:wq
