Prerequisites
1. USB keyboard.
2. Ion 8 dock.
3. Ion 8 tablet.
4. Bootable USB device such as a thumb drive with an OS image installer.
Instructions
1. Shutdown the Ion 8.
2. Plug in the USB drive and the keyboard.
3. Power on the POS-X, and press "Esc" once every second until the
firmware Setup Utility loads.
4. Move over to the “Save & Exit” tab and choose the UEFI USB drive from
under the “Boot Override” section. The entry will begin with “UEFI” and have
the model of the drive listed.
5. A menu with the FullCount logo will appear with 2 options. Choose the option
that begins with "Install FullCount..."
6. The installer will run and install the operating system. When it reboots,
unplug the USB drive. The drive should now boot with the new operating system.
7. If it boots into the EFI shell, or tries to boot from over the network,
reboot and re-enter the Setup Utility and arrow to the Boot tab menu. From
here, arrow down to “Boot Option #1,” press “Enter” and choose “Android-IA”
from the list. Press “F4” to save and exit.
8. The GRUB bootloader should load and display the FullCount logo. Ensure that
the highlighted entry displays “FullCount Tablet ION-TAB8 (Version Number).” An
example image is posted below:
9. Wait for the operating system to fully load and ensure that the serial
number is correctly written by pressing “Ctrl+Alt+F9” and comparing the serial
number listed on the information page with the serial number on the unit.
10. Scan the barcodes (shown below) from top to bottom to add a carriage return
to the barcode scanner:
*NOTE: Step 10 only needs to be done once and stays even if re-imaged.
