Device Registration

  1. Create an entry in Device Management for the new hardware. Needed information for each device:
    1. Serial Number
      • Found in Settings -> About Tablet
    2. Model Name
      • Found in Settings -> About Tablet
    3. Role

1.
Set the device role to "Non-FullCount Tablet".

        1. If the device will be used for Self-Service (2023) or the KDS, add the corresponding role IN ADDITION to the "Non-FullCount Tablet" role
  1. Create a terminal entry for the community
    1. Just like any other device, set up a terminal for the community with all the required information (serial number and description).
      • If you would like the device to automatically log in, set a default user, default department, default mode, and set auto login to "Yes

Due to restrictions in place by Google, the registration process differs slightly between devices running Android <10 and Android 10+. Up until Android 10, apps were able to automatically read the serial number of a device. Starting with Android 10, this is no longer possible.

A) If the device is running Android 9 or below, you are now done.

B) If the device is running Android 10+ (which as of 2025 will be the case for a majority devices), proceed with the additional steps. You'll see this upon loading the application:

  1. Open the support drawer by pressing the back button 7-9 times repeatedly.

  1. Select ‘Advanced FullCount Settings’ ->  ‘Manual Device Registration’

  1. Enter the devices Serial Number.
    1. The easiest way to do this is to open the devices Settings (swipe down from top, and select the Gear)
    2. Scroll to the bottom and select ‘About Tablet’
    3. You can long-press the actual serial number value to copy it to the clip board. You will get a toast notification in the middle bottom of the screen on success.
    4. You can then navigate back to the FullCount app and paste this directly into the field.
  2. Restart the application. It is important to completely close the application, not just put it in the background.
  3. When the application opens again, the device should function normally.

Ongoing Support

The new manual device registration process is only applicable to those devices running Android 10 or newer, with a November 2020 securtity patch applied. All other devices should remain the same in regards to ongoing support.

For the devices running Android 10+, it is possible for a user to follow the steps outlined in B above and still have issue accessing POS. This is what they may see:

  • This is generally due to either a factory reset or uninstalling and reinstalling FullCount.
    • Steps to take
      1. Confirm that the Id displayed here matches an entry in Device Management.
        • Ensure the correct values were entered in step B above. This can be done by viewing comparing to the devices actual serial number.
      2.  If the correct value was entered, the UUID will need to be reset for that device. This can be done within Device Management.
        • Find the correct entry in Device Management for this device
        • Open details for the device
        • Select 'Clear UUID'
        • Save
        • Have the user restart the app
      3. If the Clear UUID option is disabled for you, you might not have enough permissions to do this so ask your manager to assist you.
