Use PuTTY to log into a Server or Terminal


Objectives

  1. Log into a server or terminal via SSH.

Prerequisites

  1. A copy of the PuTTY program installed on your computer.
  2. Your computer is powered on and connected to the network.
  3. Server or terminal is powered on and connected to the network.
  4. Username and password for logging into server or terminal.

Instructions

  1. Start a web browser and go to the following URL:

  1. Select the Host Location, Role, and Serial Number from the drop-down menus:

 


  1. Click on the “Use Connection” button.
  2. Wait 5 minutes.
  3. When “Connection Status” shows “CONNECTED”:
    1. Highlight the port number displayed next to “Port 22”.
    2. Right-click and choose “Copy”.
  4. Go to Start → All Programs → PuTTY and click on “PuTTY”.
  5. In the Host Name (or IP Address) text box, type “admin.portal.fullcount.net”.

 


  1. Right-click in the “Port” text box and choose “Paste”.

 


  1. Click on the “Open” button.
  2. When you receive the security alert, click on the “No” button.

 


  1. Type in the password for the “root” user and press Enter.
