Navigator App Version 1 (SS & Retail) Oct 2025

The idea of a navigator app to easily switch between applications without having to change device roles has been discussed for some time. The first version of this is now available, and allows navigation between the new Retail POS application and Self-Service. This article discussed the requirements to get this up and running.

Requirements:

  • A Self-Service Department with Self-Service Mode
  • A Store Department with Retail POS Mode

Steps:

  1. Setup Departments & Modes
  2. Designate Device Management Role
  3. Assign Applicable Self-Service Modes from Terminal Page (OPTIONAL)
  4. Test Navigation

Step 1: Setup Departments & Modes

Setup your Department, and assign the Retail POS Mode to this department. The POS Mode set at the Department level does not restrict access to Retail. As long as a Department has at least one Retail POS mode assigned through Modes, it will show as an available option when logged into Retail. There is nothing special to note with configuring this particular mode type - the Mode level setup should be the same as old Store Mode. After setting this up, setup your Self-Service Department and it's Self-Service (2023) Mode.

Step 2: Designate Device Management Role

In order for a device to be able to access Retail POS, it must have the Role assigned through Device Management. For a FullCount device, it requires the Retail POS Role. For Non-FullCount Tablets, you must assign both the Non-FullCount Tablet and Retail POS Roles.

Step 3: Assign Applicable Self-Service Modes from Terminal Page (OPTIONAL)

When configuring a terminal, there is now a new table available, Self-Service (2023) Department Modes for Customer Selection. IF you want to restrict department access, this is where you will tell your Retail POS Terminal which Departments and Self-Service Modes can be access by consumer (ex: residents, students). You can designate more than one, and configure a default value as well. If this table is EMPTY, then which departments and modes can be accessed is only restricted by whichever user the terminal is signed into.

Step 4: Test Navigation

Load into either the Retail POS Department or one of the Self-Service Departments. Reminder, the link for retail is: https://pos.fullcount.net/login

Testing from Self-Service (2023)

From within the Self-Service application, navigate to the gear icon.

Option 1: Customer Check In Dialog > Help > Admin/Gear Icon > Switch to Retail POS

Option 2: Ordering Screen > Gear Icon > Switch to Retail POS

Testing from Retail POS

From within the Retail POS application, after logging in navigate to Admin.

Admin > Switch Application
