Tips

Non-Credit Card Payment

Tips can be accepted after the order has been closed.

Axia Credit Card Payment

Tips can be accepted either by prompting on the Axia terminal or after the order is closed. If a community is using EMV, they must prompt on the Axia terminal to accept tips. If a community wants to accept tips after the order is closed, they must have EMV turned off.

Back Office Set-Up

Information on tips is on the Tips tab under the Setup button. This tab is only available to project managers.

Name – Internal name to describe tip

Axia Tip Method – If community is not using Axia, leave blank. If community is using Axia, choose written on receipt or typed on credit card terminal. See note above as this relates to EMV.

Item – The item that will be generated for the tip

Once the tip is set-up, assign the tip to each mode that will need access to it. This is under Close Order Settings.

Assign ‘Apply Tip’ function to the roles that should have access to apply tips. This will not be set-up by default on communities created prior to this feature being created.

Touchscreen Process

Prompt on Axia Terminal

If Axia Tip Method is set to ‘Typed on Credit Card Terminal’, the Axia terminal will prompt for the tip to be applied on the terminal’s screen. The tip will be applied to the check and a transaction with the item set-up for the tip will be created.

After Close

If a tip is assigned to a mode, an Apply Tip button will appear under Closed Order Actions. Select the order and check (if more than one on the order) to apply the tip to. Enter the tip amount. The tip will be applied to the check and a transaction with the item set-up for the tip will be created.

If a tip has already been applied to the check, the system will prompt the user that a tip has already been applied. The user can then remove the tip if they choose.

If the check was closed with a credit card via Axia, the credit card payment will be adjusted through their interface. If the transaction is not able to be adjusted, the system will display the error message from the gateway to the user.

If the check was closed with a gift card, the system will verify that there is enough balance on the gift card to cover the tip requested. If there is not enough available balance, the system will display an error message specifying the tip requested and the balance on the gift card.
